Hi everyone! Welcome to the blog. This is Ben, lead web developer for the site. While I was getting to know the business and agreeing to join the team, I had some questions for the founder about the past and future of Scylla. Since we’re all about putting the “personal” back into “Personal Computers” here, I thought it would be fun to share the answers so you can get to know us and help us bring high-quality, made-in-America PC parts to PC builders everywhere! Check out the answers here:

Q. Where did you get your experience and skill in this field?

A: It began in high school, where we had a STEM pathways program, in a class called Introduction to Engineering Design, where I learned how to use CAD and CAM software like Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Fusion 360. I continued to take similar classes, learning eventually how to operate a CNC mill and laser. This led to me pursuing an engineering degree in college, where I’ve continued to learn while also on occasion working part-time. In October of 2023, my own desktop CNC machine arrived and since then I’ve been iterating on reservoir designs.

Q. What other shops have influenced you?

A: My biggest influence, while not a shop, would have to be the bit-tech YouTube channel. I remember it was May of 2023 when I stumbled across Alex from bit-tech, giving a tutorial on how to design a distro plate in fusion 360, with subsequent videos on how to machine it. It was then that I thought to myself, “Hey, these are programs I know how to use, with machines that I’ve operated. I could do this too.”

Q. What comes next for Scylla products?

A. Expect the pump reservoir bodies to come in stock once demand is proven for the standalone reservoirs. Beyond that, expect distro plates to be released, tailor made for the most popular PC cases on the market.
